Wheels and tires

Which do you prefer? I was always a smaller wheel more rubber type of guy. Last year I wanted to change up the look of the Beast a little. New front bumper and a little larger wheels. Currently had 17s wrapped in 37x12.50.

I came across these 22s wrapped in 37x13.50 and couldn't pass.upmthe marketplace deal. They are still growing on me but I do like them for the shows in the summer. I go back to the 17s for the winter.inbound2171514973007895677.jpg

I liked the 37s on 17s 12.5 also MTs

But I work on pipelines so I have use at times...

I dropped back down due to 4:10 gearing I should have upped that to 5:13s and stuck with 37 next upgrade ill do that...

Now if you have to handle the wheels and tires Im sure the larger wheel with less rubber would be easier to manage slightly....

but at that point may as well go 38s.... :)

On my wife's JKU we have stayed with 35x12.5x17 mainly because she is 55 yrs old, 5' 5" with short legs. Even though we have a step type running board it is a big step up for her even with the grab handle. She wants to go to 40's but can't make that climb with the doors on it.

40s thats a lot of meat...

But hey If I went 1 tons at 6-8 K id probably go 42s with 5.13s

Go big or go home...

on Dana 30 37 is a bit much however as long as skinny pedal is handled properly and people respect their jeep should hold up Could always go chrome Moly axles... Joshua Tildago ran his like that and had no issues and he wheeled on the edgy side...

Me Id run 37s on 4.88 or 5.13s preferably the later... on 44s... Maybe 38s

But if I went 1 tons Id def go 42s if I could get the clearance solved...

and at that point may as well add in coil overs... Ya know...

Iin regards to rim size verses Tire size... I would suggest this...

Price a set at a wheel size like 22s or 24s then rubber...

Then price a set at 17 or smaller wheel larger rubber and see how it looks to you...

If price is no problem go for looks and function...

In my case it was cheaper to stick to a 17 in and go with 37s rubber wise since the larger size wheels make it harder to get mudders which is all I run...

Oh trust me we have been doing some research on it. I prefer the larger sidewall for the ability to air down on trails. I won't ever put rubber bands on any vehicle.

Chrome moly axles aren't out of the picture either. Also been looking at trusses and just trying to figure out the end game with Dirty Girl. Wife wants the look but I want the look and functionality.

I am deciding if Ill ever trade mine in for a 392 depends on pricing and I still want lift and at that point I would want Dana 60s with 40s :)

or if Ill add 1 tons to my jeep and swap gearing to 5:13s and then go 40s but I wont be daily driving it like I do now for thousands of miles at that point...

About 3 yrs until I am seriously thinking about retiring and then the fun can begin...

Here I go Again...
